Is this an argument for an eternal soul?

Quantum mechanics says information is preserved. Our soul is information. Hence it is preserved after death. Sounds very eastern philosophy aligned, no?

I agree with Scott

Saw this interesting discussion with Scott Aaronson on TOE and I agree with many things he said. In a very short time, these AI models will be avaolavle to everyone.

One thing they discussed, where I do not agree, I think, is around the questuon of understanding. That these models have an understanding. Perhaps it can be called understanding. But more interestingly to me, I think the ability of LLMs to solve these questions says something more about language. All the problwms and proofs and stated in a languge. And this language is somehow finite. You can express these statements in a finite amount of words. And they have some kind of, abstract yes but, logic to them. The follow logic structure, and therefor they can be found and expressed in a language by LLMs as they are good at predicting streams of words based on some structure.

It seem to me there is an insight here. Perhaos not. Who konws...

A new definition of consciousness and perhaps free will?

 

Ok, so the Turing test has failed. What do we do now. I have a backwards proposal. Let's instead define an entity conscious if its behavior cannot be replicated by a Turing machine. This is a kind of negativ definition, and I am not sure it can be tested that easily. But it sort of assumes consciousness is something other than computation, and therefor, everything that is not computation, is conscious. Perhaps this is rather weak, but I feel it gives a new perspective. At least for me.

The minute I stopped worriying about AI destroying humanity

Strong title. Maybe I will start worrying again. But when I was out running, it struck me that mammals never became large and took over the world when there were large reptiles, and then that we have biological equality now ans mostly in biological history. Why, because there is balance. Prrditors eating prey and so on.

We can, and will I think, arrange the AI agents in the seame way. Like they did in Terminator. Have a terminator fight the terminators. In reality though, we will realize this much earlier than in Terminator and then have agents guarding agents, hindering them from going bananaz.

So, problem solved. Let enjoy the AI future.

Of course there are tonnes of other issues with AI such as it will completely displace the labour market. But that is a different thing.

We are focusing on the wrong issues with IT infrastructure

There is so much talk about US tech and end to end encryption. These things are not wrong to care about. But with closed source code and these extremely complex data flows in modern IT environments, it is obvious that ypu as a user have no overview what so ever when it comes to where data is going and what is done with it. This complete lack of transparancy and dataflow overview is a much more critical and hard to solve issue than encryption here and there.

And, as an exaple of a related issue. We are also not understanding the implications of these complex systems. As an example, WhatsApp offers end to end encryption and tells us users that chats cannot be restored without our pin. Now, this pin is usuallt 4-6 digits. Ok, so our encryption keeys are them selves encrypted by a 4-6 digit pin, and we are supposed to beleive that is sufficient to stop Meta from decrypting them? This is ridiculus. Of course, if they wanted, that could do that in some 1 second or similar time frame.

Ökad möjlighet för industrin att styra den fria forskningen hyllas.

Igen, ett korkat beslut där man går ifrån frihet till förmån för mönster som rör sej mot korruption och totalitäritet. I Sverige kan man nu (äntlige ivrar förespråkarna) få skattereduktion som företag om man skänker pengar till forskning vid universitet. Upp till 800 000 kr på år. Och alla är superpositiva.

För mej personligen är detta utmärkt. Mina bolag kan nyttja detta för att få till forskning vi är intresserade av.

Men jag tycker ändå det är helt idiotiskt. Varför ska vi ge bolag denna rätten? Det finns naturligtvis alternativ. Starta en statig fond som bolag som vill ge av sin vinst kan bidra till och dela ut pengar ur den fonden till forskningen i Sverige. Detta är i princip vad KAW och övriga Wallenberg-stiftelser gjort själva genom att dom har så mycket pengar så dom kan driva dessa fonder själva.

Varje steg där man väljer att skattebefria en viss verksamhet är ett slag mot iden om en gemensam och alltrusitisk välfärd där man ser att en viss del av överskottet som kommersiell verksamhet genererar ska vi besluta om tilldammans hur det kan nyttjas bäst. Så, detta är principen man väljer att montera ner. Även här. Och någon måste säga det!

Hur kan vi vara så korkade?

Varje studie som görs visar atr Sverige tjänat stort på migrationen 2015 och framåt. Jämfört med länder som inte tagit emot invandrare, som Finland, är situationen i Sverige överlägsen.

Men detta nämns inte med ett ord någonstans. Iställer pratar man populistiskt om "ordnad invandring" och att ditt och datt ska vara rimligt.

Det verkliga skälet till att inte ta emot dessa flyktingar borde vara att vi gör deras hemländer en stor otjänst i att det är de mest kvalificerade, srivna och kapabla som lämnar dessa stackars sargade länder. Där de kunde fjort mycket nytta. Nu får istället vi dessa kapabla bidragande individer. I vissa EU-länder som Frankrike har man till och med satt detta i system och rekryterar aktivt högkvalificerad arbetskraft från länder som har stort behov av dessa människor. Vår neslighet saknar gräns.

Och i Sverige fortsätter en fullständigt huvudlös debatt där nästan alla tävlar om att ha den mest restriktiva migrationspolitiken där 8 månaders bebisar utvisas.
