These men with their toys

It astounds me that very brilliant people, like Paul Allen, when they have sooo much money and want to do something new focus on this complete rubbish. How in the world can someone think this is what we need? Or is it simply cause it is cool to do rockets?

We have a world that is hurling towards disaster with climate change forcing us to completely rethink our whole existence (not to mention all other horrible problems in the world such as hunger and poverty). And we have technology, that is very profitable, to tackle large parts of it; like wind farms. And still, we chose to do all these silly things. Why?
