In connection to the ongoing race for space internet access much talk is about latency. I have a prediction. Soon after we have routers in space, we are going to want to put data centers there. That will provide exceptional latency and unlimited power access: solar power.

A possibilty for the next WCry-kind of worm

During the past days the WCry worm has caused more damage than probably any previous internet meltdown. This one was used for ransomware. What about this one: An organised crime unit develops something similar to WCry. But in addition to using it as a ransomware, pre-knowledge about what will happen is sold to other criminal elements, alerting them about when and what will happen. Thus, the general chaos can be used to conduct other criminal activities, terror acts or espionage.
That would be a kind of nightmare scenario.

Rehammar's law

I just read about Godwin's law. I think I can make a generalisation: If the number of entries in a discussion thread on the internet (or some where else) goes to infinity, every statement that can be made, will be made. This is just due to that people tend to make all sorts of weird connections and sooner or later, every statement will be made. Woilla - Rehammar's law.

När ska mobilnät ses som infrastruktur

Förr var televerket statligt och nu har man privatiserat det. Med den revolutions som internet och mobilitet har inneburit, borde det inte vara dax att fundera på en statlig nätverksleverantör igen. Där man, likt vägar, har en skattefinansierad leverantör av mobilt och trådbundet internet på samma sätt som annan vital infrastruktur?
